Abstract: The Historical Monthly Energy Review Database (HMERDB) provides a
machine readable transcription of energy and related data published in the
"Historical Monthly Energy Review" DOE/EIA-0035(73-88). The HMERDB was produced
using the same parent database and system that produced the data published in the
"Historical Monthly Energy Review" (HMER). These files can be imported into database
software to generate tables similar to the tables that appear in the printed version
of the "Historical Monthly Energy Review".
Extent of Collection: The distribution media contained a documentation file
in ASCII text format and data files in ASCII CSV format.
Data Conversion:
Extraneous ASCII characters were removed from the DOS ASCII documentation
and data files. These files were saved as "fixed" files. For more
information about data conversion, see
File Processing and Quality Control.
Minimum Software Requirements: (1) Software capable of reading ASCII
text files. (2) Database software capable of importing ASCII CSV files.
- ASCII text - text files can be read by most file viewers and
word processing software.
- ASCII data - text data files can be imported into most
statistical and database software. Data values may or may not
use separators. Common separators are commas (ASCII CSV), tabs
or spaces.
Files: DOS ASCII files contain carriage return characters. ASCII files
do not contain cariage return characters. For information about downloading
