Abstract: The International Coal Statistics Data base (ICSD) is a
Microsoft DOS microcomputer-based system which contains information related to
international coal trade. This includes coal production, consumption, imports
and exports information. The ICSD is a secondary data base meaning that information
contained therein is derived entirely from other primary sources. ICSD was developed
by the EIA Office of Coal, Nuclear, Electric and Alternate Fuels.
This system uses DOS dBase III+ and DOS Lotus 123 to locate, report,
and display data. The system was designed to run on a Microsoft DOS Compaq 386 computer
equipped with color graphic cards and supported by a graphics printer. This system is
used for analysis in preparing the Annual Prospects for World Coal Trade publication.
The ICSD system is menu driven and also permits the user who is familiar with DOS
dBase and DOS Lotus operations to leave the menu structure to perform independent queries.
Extent of Collection: The distribution media contained a DOS WordPerfect
User's Guide, a Microsoft DOS batch installation program, DOS program files,
DOS compressed self extracting files and a DOS memory manager.
Data Conversion: The DOS WordPerfect User's Guide was translated to PDF format.

Minimum Software Requirements: (1) Software capable of reading portable
document files (PDF), such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
(2) Microsoft DOS version 3.31 or higher. (3) DOS Lotus 123 version 2.0 or 2.2.
(4) DOS dBase III+ (other versions of dBase will not work).
Files: DOS ASCII files contain carriage return characters. ASCII files do
