Abstract:
The Monthly Power Plant Report contains monthly data (Jan 1991 - Apr 1994)
reported on Form EIA-759, "Monthly Power Plant Report." These electric utility
data files include information such as net generation, fuel consumption,
fuel stocks, prime mover and fuel type.
Extent of Collection: The distribution media contained DOS WordPerfect DOS
ASCII record layout files and DOS self extracting compressed files. The
1992 DOS self extracting file contained two DOS file compression utility
programs, PKZIP.EXE and PKZIPFIX.EXE.
Data Conversion:
The original DOS WordPerfect and DOS ASCII record layout files were replaced by
ASCII record layout files from DOE/EIA because the DOE/EIA files include the
variable types as well as variable value codes in the record layouts. The DOS
compressed files were extracted and are available in their original rectangular
non-delimited DOS ASCII formats. The decompressed data files were translated to
ASCII CSV format. Variable labels were added to the translated files. For more

Minimum Software Requirements: (1) Software capable of reading ASCII
text files. (2) Statistical software capable of importing ASCII CSV data files.
- ASCII text - text files can be read by most file viewers and
word processing software.
- ASCII data - text data files can be imported into most
statistical and database software. Data values may or may not
use separators. Common separators are commas (ASCII CSV), tabs
or spaces.
Files: DOS ASCII files contain carriage return characters. ASCII files do
