STUDY DESCRIPTION: This data collection provides information regarding Government Organization Special Districts. The data were compiled for SSDC by the Census Bureau. Every fifth year the Annual Survey of Governments (ASG) is expanded and a complete census of United States governmental units is undertaken. Like the ASG, the Census of Governments contains detailed financial and employment statistics. The Census, however, contains data for over 84,000 states, counties, municipalities, and school and special districts in the United States. Included among the items tabulated are data on resources, expenditures in various areas, assets and operations of the numerous governmental jurisdictions reported in the files. The 1992 Census of Government, Government Organization documents are available in PDF format.
