The "View file" option sends the file to your browser for display. Note that very large files may not display well on some browsers.
The "View file" option can also be used for downloading straight to your disk. How this is done varies with browsers. Try using your right mouse button while pointing to the file (windows) or holding your mouse button down while pointing to the file (mac). This option might also be available through the browser's File menu.

Download
"Download to disk/program": should force your browser to offer you the option of saving the file to disk or opening the file with a particular application on your own computer.
When prompted, enter a filename and path for saving the file or choose and application to load the file into.

Subset/Convert
"Subset/Convert dataset": presents a new screen with options allowing you to create a subset of the file and to obtain a software-specific file (e.g., an Excel file).

Compressed
"Download/Compressed": should force your browser to offer you the option of saving the file to disk or choosing an application on your own computer to uncompress the data When prompted, enter a filename and path for saving the compressed file or choose and application for uncompressing the file.

Binary File
"Binary file": should force your browser to offer you the option of saving the file to disk or opening the file with a particular application on your own computer. The "Binary file" option is used when the file contains non-ASCII (i.e., non-alpha/numeric) coding. For instance, Excel files and dBase files are binary files.

HTML File
HTML files are browsable files in HTML format.
