STUDY DESCRIPTION: Census 2000 Summary Files on DVD media (Summary Files 1-4 and 108th Congressional Districts) contain data extraction software and population and housing data based on Census 2000 questions asked of all people and about every housing unit. All of the data on these DVD's are also available from American FactFinder. American FactFinder has a limit of 50 data tables that can be retrieved from any population and housing database. There are no restrictions to the number of data tables that can be retrieved from the DVD databases.

Population items for the 100-percent data include sex, age, race, Hispanic or Latino, household relationship, family size and type, and group quarters. Housing items include occupancy status, vacancy status, and tenure (owner/renter occupied). Population items for the sample data include basic population totals, urban and rural, marital status, grandparents as caregivers, place of birth, citizenship status, place of work, educational attainment, veteran status, and more. Housing items include basic housing totals, number of rooms, number of bedrooms, household size, year structure built, heating fuel, and more.

These Summary Files present data for the United States, the 50 states, and the District of Columbia in a hierarchical sequence down to the block level for many tabulations, but only to the census tract level for others. Summaries are included for other geographic areas such as ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) and Congressional districts.
