Access to UCSD licensed databases and software is restricted to UCSD faculty,
students and staff.
Public access rights to database 2 is designated as [Public].
Public access rights to databases does not guarantee access to this workstation as
these databases are available to the public in the Geisel Library on CD or DVD media.
The SSDC "Datacruncher" workstation is a Windows PC that runs databases, software and
services that are not available from the
Social Sciences Data Collection Web site. Datacruncher is located in the
GIS Lab in the Geisel Library.
Users may request access to Datacruncher at the SSHL Reference Desk or from
Data Services staff.
When you present your UCSD ID to Reference Desk or Data Services staff you will
receive a Datacruncher "datauser" account and password.
SPSS, Stata, StatTransfer and DBMSCopy are provided to facilitate data extraction
and transformation. Statistical analysis is not supported on Datacruncher. Students who
require SPSS for class assignments or statistical analysis should be directed to the UCSD
Solis Lab.
Datacruncher consulting is available by appointment from
Data Services staff.
